Free Movie Night!!

Tupaia’s Endeavour, will be screened along with Jan Bieringa’s documentary Te Hono Ki Aotearoa, which looks at the first waka taua to permanently leave New Zealand shores it is being shown free with both film-makers Lala Rolls and Jan Bieringa attending the event.

We have two awesome movies being shown for free at the Russell Town Hall  tomorrow (Saturday). The screening will kick off two years’ of events across Northland leading to the 250th national commemoration in 2019Tuia – First Encounters 250. This commemoration will celebrate the meeting of two great voyaging traditions (Pacific/Māori and European), one of the key themes of the anniversary celebrations, and our dual heritage. They are part of the lead up to the 2019 commemorations for Tuia Encounters 250, the first meetings between Maori and the crew on board James Cook’s Endeavour. 
Drinks and snacks will be available between the movies or there are plenty of local restaurants where you can grab a bite to eat.
