Russell – Orongo Bay Holiday Park is one of the few places in New Zealand (as filmed by the BBC Natural History unit for the program Earth’s Mythical Islands, shown worldwide in 2016) where you have a chance to see brown kiwi and are guaranteed to see the North Island weka in their natural environment as they roam around the park and the surrounding native bush.
The park is set amongst 14 acres of native New Zealand bush where there is a wide diversity of New Zealand flora and fauna, up to 150 species of birds and a magnificent night sky due to the low light. The park is located only minutes from Russell town so you can have the best of both worlds.
Stay with us and a portion of what you pay is used to restore habitat, save endangered wildlife and maintain ongoing plant and animal pest control within our predator free holiday park.
You can’t help but take in the sights and sounds of nature making a stay with us a truly unique experience.
Introducing Tori and James, Park Owners….
Introducing Tori and James Burns, park owners, along with their four children Jaimee, Cassidy, Shiloh, Braxton and their lovely dog Brodie.
Tori and James have a long running affinity with Russell. In 2013 they married at the gorgeously quaint Christ Church in romantic Russell. They would often stay at Russell Orongo Bay Holiday Park where they were always warmly welcomed and were completely mesmerised by the beautiful natural setting and amazing birdlife that live alongside guests at the park.
They were given the opportunity to purchase the park in May 2018 and have since set about continuing the wonderful legacy the previous owners had built, by bringing their own dreams and vision to the park, preserving the natural setting and wildlife, for future generations to enjoy as much as they do. They are so happy to offer this natural playground to their guests and look forward to sharing many happy times and making lots of memories and friends with you all as you enjoy this piece of natural paradise too.
