At Russell-Orongo Bay Holiday park you can enjoy the best of both worlds, being a natural playground set in 14 acres of native bush and only a short drive from all the action in Russell.

The park is a short 5min drive from Russell.

It is a 15min cycle ride and a 45min walk.

The park is only a short distance from some of the many golden sand beaches of the Bay of Islands.

Oneroa Bay (Long Bay) Beach – 7min drive from the park.

Pipiroa Bay – 7min drive from the park.

Tapeka Point Beach – 10min drive from the park.

Oke Bay and Helena Bay are some other amazing and more remote beaches within a 20-30 minute drive.

Don’t forget we also have a swimming pool so you can cool off without leaving the park.

Boat parking is available by prior arrangement, so please contact our reception at the time of booking to arrange.

We are a dog friendly holiday park, and we encourage you to bring your four legged friend/s on holiday with you. There are however a few things that you’ll need to be mindful of when staying at the park with your dog/s.

We are a kiwi and weka sanctuary, we also have chickens and many other species of birds feeding, bathing and free-ranging on site. We love our natural environment and it is very important to us.  Therefore, any dogs that are unable to be controlled in this environment unfortunately will not be allowed on our grounds. We appreciate your understanding in this matter.

First and foremost, any dogs staying with us are totally at the discretion of park management and must be agreed to prior to your visit, so please contact us at the time of booking.

Please check out our Dog Policy

Kiwi are a nocturnal bird and you will regularly hear the distinctive call of the kiwi at night.

We have a kiwi trail where many guests have seen a kiwi so you may just be lucky enough to see a kiwi in the wild!

For the very best chance to see a kiwi you will need to venture out on a very dark night, use a red light (they don’t like bright lights) and be downwind from them away from their highly sensitive sense of smell.

It is very rare to see a kiwi during daylight hours but you will see the rare North Island weka roaming the park along with up to 55 species of birds.

Looking across from the holiday park towards Orongo Bay is the boardwalk. Turn left out of the park and cross over the road, follow the gravel walkway down to the boardwalk. You can complete a full circle returning to the park from the other side of the boardwalk (20mins).

Russell has a great selection of places to eat, check out the dining guide for all the options.
