At Russell-Orongo Bay Holiday Park we regularly host schools, family reunions, weddings, environmental and many other special interest groups.
Accommodation options
Our wide variety of accommodation is appealing to any group budget, from the camp sites to more luxury self–contained accommodation. We have accommodation to suit everyone!
The Lodge is an ideal venue for groups and has capacity for up to 60 people. Lodge rooms are relatively roomy with sliding glass doors which lead onto a good sized deck for outdoor living. With a cosy log fire and plenty of BBQ areas for socialising it’s the perfect venue summer or winter.
Up to 20 additional people can be accommodated in the surrounding cabins.
For smaller groups there are also a number of cabins and self contained options available.
Camping is also a great and very cost effective option due to the sunny and reliable climate of Russell. Many groups choose to tent or a mixture of tent sites and Lodge rooms.
Best time to travel
Russell is beautiful at any time of the year but for a more personal experience, and to avoid the crowds, we recommend your group travel between February to December, the climate is good with the warmest and most reliable weather in New Zealand and we offer you great value and keen prices at this time of year.
Activities and itineraries
Expansive grassed areas at the park together with large areas of native New Zealand bush – 14 acres to be exact! – provide plenty of space to organise games, team building and events.
We are more than happy to help with recommendations for your itineraries and advice on activities in the area covering history, culture, the environment and sustainability, outdoor fun and adventure.
Loved the Bay, will be coming back! Accommodated our large group easily in the lodge, great staff and lovely natural setting. The pool was a nice plus!

Awesome place for a school trip. The rooms were clean and the group kitchen was well-appointed. We enjoyed the bush location and the swimming pool was great place to relax and the end of the day’s activities. We would definitely stay again.
